I’ve been jonesing to put out more plants for weeks, but it’s been too hot. Finally I gave in yesterday. I bought plants at two stores, then waited til 1am when the temp cooled down to 87 degrees to start potting them. I finished at 3:30am, drenched in sweat and dirt, and very tired.

Caladiums are doing well on my patio, so I got three more. Here’s one.

A few weeks ago I took the chairs down from the upper deck so I would have more rooms for plants. No one comes over anyway. I’m filling it up.

This side gets harsh afternoon light for a few hours.

I got two new varieties of ornamental pepper. The one on the right has variegated purple leaves.

My other new caladium, and an iron hanger I got a while back. I don’t really like the candle holder I put in it because it hangs down too much. I will have to find something else.

I finally planted the poor thing in the red pot. I bought it months ago and I’m surprised it survived. I couldn’t find more Persian shield. I really love it’s purple leaves.

I got some coleus and sweet potato vine. I’ve seen the sweet potato vine in mass beds and it’s really pretty.

I got three purple queens in 4in pots, and they were really overgrown. They already overfill this container. My Buddha is being blinded by sun.

I killed my ficus tree, so I was looking for a replacement. I found this rubber plant on sale for $5. Lula checks it out.

I never take a picture of what’s above. The property is on a hill, so the building behind us is six feet higher than ours. Our neighbors have this tree in their yard and it hangs out over my patio. With the tree and being on the east side of the building, it’s probably a good ten degrees cooler back here than in the front on a summer day.

Gorgeous purple calla lilly. Perfect for the shady patio. I got a red pot for it.

Georgia Blue Creeping Speedwell. I had this last year, and it’s just so cute.

It poured rain all morning, so I didn’t see the Easter Bunny, but it turned out to be a beautiful afternoon. I got outside and potted all the plants I bought last week. I also divided up the overgrown violas in the hanging basket into 3 baskets.

It’s cold and windy today, but I braved it to get more plants. I’m still upset at the theft of two of the wire and cocoa planters. I wanted to move the plants back out on the patio, but it’s supposed to get near freezing the next two nights. Will it ever stay warm?

Yesterday I went to a crawfish boil at a friend’s house. She is a potter and makes these delightful cups and saucers on a stick for your garden. I bought this one.

Here’s an overhead shot of the new plants. That’s oregano and basil in the upper left. They will go in the top of the upside down planters.

This is an African daisy. I’m a sucker for daisies. I have yet to have a daisy last all season in any of my gardens. I am a daisy murderess.

This is verbena. I’m going to plant it in the center of my biggest pot and surround it with ageratum.

These are impatiens. I like impatiens because they are hard to kill and they do well in shade. In the bottom right is the garden salsa pepper I will also be attempting to grow upside down.

Thursday it was 87 degrees, so after work I ran to the store and bought a few flowers. I hurried home and began frantically planting them. This will be another cold weekend and I won’t be able to do much outside.

Not quite up to last year’s glory, but it’s getting there. Time to party!

I have the itch to garden, so I bought a few plants, soil, mulch, and planters. Of course, it’s cold this weekend. Hopefully tomorrow I can get out and do something without freezing to death.

The tiny pots hold tea lights. I’m wiring them up and hanging them around the patio.
